I've tried to make the poll as unbiased as I possibly can, in the interest of science. So, if anyone can spot a flaw in my logic, please point this out and I will ignore it forthwith.

Sinister Utopia
But God will surely see that they are not crushed, won't he?

So was that a same past or a different past conveyor belt?
am_Unition
I really think we can quantify this more accurately than just answering with a yes or yes. What about the entire spectrum in between the two?

Let us define:
  • Ω as the concentration of prayers said while on the belt
  • δ as the fashion index of the attire worn by the potential runwaykill
  • ε as the gender coefficient (factor of 2 for male, 1 for female, -1.5 for shemale and male-shes)
  • n as number of times said creationist has attended religious service
  • Φ as number of other religions that could possibly be closer to the truth (value = 76,254,391,308)

The expression yielding the likely hood of avoiding a splattering is as follows:

(ε(Ω*δ)^2 + ε*n)/Φ

This truncates to

(ε/Φ)*((Ω*δ)^2 + n)

As you can see, the equation tends to zero no matter what the individual's personal achievements or setbacks happen to be... this is due to Φ's extremely large value.

Now, to test theory with experiment...

Great stuff Unition...however, I propose a slightly different equation:
  • © as the concentration of prayers said while on the belt
  • Ω as the number of Bibles on the Creationist's bookshelf
  • δ as the number of scientists that attempt to sway the Creationist
  • ε as the gender coefficient
  • n as the number of times the Creationist has attended religious service
  • x as the number of times the Creationist has attacked or criticized evolution (the value could vary)
  • Φ as the number of religions that could possibly be closer to the truth (using deadbeat's definition of religion, we can safely up the value to googolplex)

And now for the expression yielding the likelyhood of the plane hitting its target.

ε[©(x*n)]^2 + [n/Ω]^2 / δ

Gotta be worth a Nobel Prize or three.

That's rubbish!!! You completely forgot to account for the observer effect. That the probability a creationist was splatted could be affected by the act of checking whether they were.
Personally, I never check. I even turn the radio up, so there is no chance of hearing the brief screams. To further reduce the observer effect, I even get someone else to hose the bottom of the plane after landing.

Too bad the laws of the universe shifted before the experience started, air no longer generates lift.

I'm gonna have to think on this, there's no "simple" answer to this question. rolleyes.gif

The way I see it, am_Unition and TheDoc both missed a shot at some 1337...

Not to mention 42... laugh.gif

Is the speed of the conveyor belt constant?

What's the conveyor belt made out of? Bear traps?

Specially-created Creationist trap. The idea is simple. You put a science textbook on conveyor, and then watch as the Creationist attempts to destroy it. He'll be completely oblivious to the incoming plane cool.gif

laugh.gif Good-one!

I'd have similarly baited conveyor belts everywhere ..... all feeding power station blast-furnaces - like, oils gonna run out soon.

The prophet Murphy teaches us that the conveyor belt will probably stop, saving the creationists from being crushed, but also that as the creationists begin to gloat over being spared by their false god, the belt will catch fire, engulfing them in a might conflagration.

The creationist will not be able to see the Truth of the plane coming, as s/he will be in a pre-packaged box with the lid taped down, thinking that s/he is about to be loaded onto a truck destined for 'Heaven'.

Oh well... The energy will not go to waste!
