What do you believe is the origin of complexity in the universe?

Second law of thermodynamics which says that there are many more disordered (i.e. complex) forms of matter than there are ordered forms and when heat flows, the preference is to increase the total disorder.

Paley, in his Natural Theology, equated complexity with evidence of design, but this has not been shown to be the case generally. Complexity, in human affairs, is more often evidence of poor design or lack of design.
