Hi!

I am wondering if a material reinforced with carbon nano particles subjected to grinding and cutting and perhaps scratching on the surface with a sharp tool, can induce any health hazards for the worker, for instance as carbon nanotubes turn into dust?

What kind of respiratory mask would you recommend for this purpose?

Is ventilation required? How severe will the risk remain if the area is not ventilated.

I would appreciate thorough answers to the questions above. Please submit your recommendations preferably with name of the respiratory mask and why it is suitable for this purpose.

Thank you kindly
Enthalpy
The right answer is: nobody knows up to now.

We'll know it better when enough people are sick so we have observations and even statistics.

Meanwhile, do what you feel sensible, just as everyone does.

Workers using nanotubes in powder form tend to opens containers in ventilated boxes.

Also, if grinding a material containing nanotubes, you might use much liquid coolant, to avoid the formation of dust at least. But then, is the liquid dangerous on the skin?
