The flood of nonsense has got too much for me.

I'll check in again in a couple of weeks and see if the situation has improved. Otherwise, I'm hunting for a science forum where science is discussed, not nonsense.

I know I owe a PM to someone - I shall read the last and will reply.

Cheers, guys.

Kino.

If you find it let me know too please?

A great loss to the forum. I hope I am in no way responsible - if so then I am very sorry.

FYI The moderator has not made a post since October 1st and moderation has likely been absent since that date. Hopefully he/she will return from their absence soon.

I must have missed that discussion, do you have a link?

This forum has been poorly moderated for an extended period of time. Now apparently defunct. Since rpenner seems to have the perfect credentials to moderate these groups it must mean he really doesn't care to. Remember the dumb red note he left for you in our Interstellar ...... thread. Even at the height of his involvement he didn't always make sense. He banned a member on his first post for copy/paste a complete article. No warning. Then he lets a coplete troll, mazulu, go on and on and on and on and....... He did get rid of some of the nonsense.

Try this one:

SciPhysicsResearch is good.

Hi Maxila

rpenner doesn't seem to be as reliable and honest as we thought. He's posting away at SciForums. So I'm going to conclude he's no longer moderating this forum and doesn't seem to have the nads to 'fess up'. For being such a veritable wealth of information he seems to lack credilbility with personal responsibility.

Please feel free to come to the Joint.

We've had a dry spell with regards to science discussion lately in favor of economics, so an infusion from Kino and others who've shown some thought and forbearance here will be welcome at my place.

The Joint doesn't allow the sort of crap y'all have seen in the last few weeks here.

Trolls and spammers are generally deleted by sunrise in my time zone, and they are thereafter blocked.

Cookies and cocoa at ten on Sundays. wink.gif

Hey Kino;

Don't leave for good, just come back here to read once in awhile.

You know which posters to ignore and which ones are a waste of time to try to discuss things with.

Some regular people wander in here now and then that just need a pointer or a link and aren't any trouble.
Lasand
How about somebody list the top 10 physics forums.

Does it start with physicsforum then sciforum?

He is Richard Penner, actually, not that it really matters.

As to Lasand's question:

Top Physics forums: http://www.dmoz.org/Science/Physics/Chats_and_Forums/

Note that the link for here points to the old URL, when this place really was a Physics forum and they were associated with physorg.com. The DNS A record has a redirect on it to point you here.

He has never revealed his real name for obvious reasons. You are advertising your forum here. Did you obtain his real name through your forum?

Not cool, not cool at all!
Granouille
I have extended an invitation. I'm not advertising anything except an ad-free, spam-free place to discuss science. I derive no income from the Joint, and probably never will. So what?

I discovered his name in conversations with him if you think it's your business. It isn't as though I gave anyone his address, anyway.

My name is Donovan Ready. By sharing it in this cesspool, do you think I have anything to fear?

Choosing to reveal your own identity is your prerogative. If it is not a legal issue then an administrator of a social network should not make their members identities public without their consent. It's not cool!
Sapo
I'm pretty damned sure I knew it before I started my site, and I'm also pretty sure some other folks who were members here before it was let to rot about 4 years ago also know his name.

I get the 'not cool' part, but I disagree as to the severity. Lighten up! How many Donovan Ready entries come in an online search? Try your name, or the former moderator... Not much use, is it? smile.gif
Harry Ballsonya
It was easy. I was able to find both of your addresses and five relatives. Your real first name is not Donovan. Once again, not cool!

Now that you have posted your real name, you should remove your D.O.B. and location from your profile.

Best post i read on this forum, I agree 100% this place is a cesspool of fascist pigs, you cant say 2 words without someone troll joining in the thread.

A bunch of blind ignorant wanna be piss ants.

what country is this? if this reflects there culture, then for the most part they fail even at life. tongue.gif
