http://www.physorg.com/news109581631.html In my mind the benefit of biofuels was that they will exist as long as life on earth exists whereas oil will become rarer and rarer as time goes on.
The true benefit of biofuels is that they will still be here in a century.

We ought to genetically engineeer biofuel crops and other crops etc. that do not realease copius quanitites of nitrous oxide or other compunds that cause greenhouse warming. The most practical plants to start with are biofuel and crops that have already been modified.

Excellent! Keep catering for the oil industry's infrastructure and related subsidiaries ( Where do you think they would process the biofuel?) I am sure it will make a lot of fat cats happy, that's the only thing important.
Mean while, other alternatives such as solar power is shunted because nobody is doing it on a massive scale on those sun-drenched waste lands out there, which means it is unproven because nobody is doing it on the massive scale which proves it is an unproven solution, which means nobody is doing it , whhich means...
God, I CAN WAIT TO SEE THIS MUDBALL GOING UP IN FLAMES, AND HOMO STUPIDUS GOES EXTINCT COMPLETELY!!!

I'm no scientist, but maybe the biggest part of the solution lies, not in using "this" or "that" kind of fuel, but in teaching/learning to live according to our "needs" - and not our "wants". When it comes to achieving balance, living in harmony with ourselves with others and with nature (living simply, - or simply living!), we are a lost, confused generation. The more we try to find happiness outside our selves, the more we want, the more we become slaves to things and gadgets and stuff. The more we try to find happiness within our Selves, the less we need material things to fill up the void within us, those material things that are good but that we have changed into needs. Decrease the needs and you'll see a decrease of the abuse of our natural habitat - and of ourselves!. It's a personal choice, but its voice has long been "out-decibelled" by the dictatorship we readily submit to in advertising, in the multitude of voices telling us that possessing more of this, or better of that will make us happy. Joy, balance, fulfillment are ours to choose, from a place within ourselves. The disharmony we see around us is the product of the disharmony within. Healing is readily available, but must come from within. And we DO have that power! When we heal our Selves, Nature will also be healed.
