I think you will do fine.
I'm guessing that what people meant is that it can be a rather 'harsh' environment at times here, but as long as your questions are honest I think people will treat you ok.

1. Yogi bear a well known "Yogeler"
2. Pooh bear ..well known for ...well , you know.
3. Smokey Bear...He's down to a pack a day....Good for him..working on the arson thing.
4. Humphrey Bear (for the Aussies) doing Dame Edna stuff nowadays
And finally Telly Tubbys. Well they're not really bears but ...you know .....you got to include them cause they covered all the bases.

It isn't stalking when one simply wants to respond to insults like yours.
You could always realize that your opinion about what is and what isn't doesn't give you the red carpet to act in your cruel nasty way.
