ok, so i drink a lot of beer, approx 2 cartons worth a week, (thats 48 x 330mL or thereabouts) a week.

should i be concerned? Im only fairly young still, but sometimes i worry at all the yellow crap my liver has to digest.

should i drink red wine instead?
Dr Fred A Wolf
That's around 28 pints/week (4/day) - depends on the % alcohol and composition.

If it's a 3% pussy- brew and you've no underlying medical issues, then I dare say, you'd not suffer too much extensive hepatic carnage.

Do not binge drink - spread it out. Beer is good in moderation (Hops contain beneficial flavonoids and the alcohol de-stresses the CNS).

Red wine? ..... fabulous stuff - especially the Australian, South American/African varieties - go for Cabernet Sauvignon, as it contains the one of the highest concentrations of polyphenols in the grape ..... and tastes splendid. Drink 2 x 200ml a day and you'll be not only be fairly chilled, but fairly pissed.

Hi
The beer would be fine if it was occasional but regularly drinking beer is very unhealthy so no i would not consider them a health nut.

Thank you for the swift reply Doctor.

If you don't mind i would like a second opinion from long term users.

I would advise you to slow down before it becomes a habit. Im a "whatever is in the house till it's all gone" drinker. I quit for three years once on my own and another time for a year at the request of the local courts. Iv been dry for about three weeks this time and I think its permanent. A fifth every 3 or 4 days for a 61 year old was killing me. That's one night to drink it and the other days to recover.

My advise is set yourselves a daily limit for about two weeks, say 4 beers a day. If you can keep to it then no problem. If you cant you might want to start considering stopping altogether.

Know this, you will end up in the courts if you get drunk and go outside your house. It may take a few years but it will happen. And it will be expensive.

This might help if you want to give it up. Alcohol is yeast s__t.

Yes it is.

Alcohol-free since age 21.

I have to congratulate you for whatever reason you quit.

Every mess I've ever gotten into has been related to alcohol. For those who can control it, good for them. For those who cant there is only one option. Quit.

I saw somewhere years ago that even low amount of alcohool can kill brain`s cells or neurons

Hehe.. cool. I have not drank any alcohol since I was 21 exactly. What are the odds?

I likely have different reasons than you but it's still a funny coincidence.

For me, patience is an integral part of a plan. A measure of a persons control over themselves.

If possible I put waiting on my "to do" list, when appropriate.

But i still enjoy my Beers. cool.gif

I see the main focus is on the alcohol but what about the beer itself. I've been looking up on how to make pop (soda) and found that there isn't much difference between beer and pop. Water, sugar, flavoring syrup, and yeast. The difference being the syrup and the beer is given time to ferment while pop is bottled after a very short amount of time.

I don't like beer but from what I have seen of people who are regular drinkers, the beer gut is very real. If you think pop is unhealthy, then you must think beer is too.

There's a paper which was published in a reputable medical journal somewhere out there that describes the process that leads to a beer gut. I'll be damned if I know where, though.

I dont think i would enjoy this beer. Beers is supposed to be drunk by the quantity, not like spirits..
