There are two methods of nanobot self assembly, maybe more.
One well known one, is to bind bacteria in it recombinant phase, to certain aspects of media machine or some such similar devices, as Buckeyballs, (small structures that can be compiled, to make larger micro structures).
In macro, larger nanobots can assemble lot legs and propulsors, from a media dump.
The first example, is to DNA encode the sub assembly procedure, to recognize the buckeyballs as objects of ob.ortho-linnearity.
So in the same fashion as how crystal medium would be presented as structured crystal growth, say in the accumulated spry of hard mineral water, on the rocks near a fountain, the DNA direction, by genetic engineering, would decide the objects to be built.
*These structures, would more than likely be simplistic via their asked natures.
+A DNA programmed stop,. is applied via engineering to the lineation of the ob-ortho-objective, once this objective has been measured as done, then realized as feedback, through a liquid media RNA similar indicator, for the DNA designed command process, to stop.
The second process, in micro machine macro, is a confluence liquid gel media, that is applied after certain parts, such as a brain, servo features such as legs and other asked to task features, then instillation of these components within the insect shell, are completed.
This second ruse illustrated, is simply expressed as nanocreators, go to media parts dump, retrieve shell, take to staging area.shell placed on its back, spinal column, brain, musculature gathered.

This process may take anywhere, from one half hour, to an hour depending on the complexity of the asked to be assembled creature.

FUTURE:In time, if the internal gel media of the macrobots, becomes self biological as realized by the creature. Then a dependence placed on the mini-super-computer-tower, as placed in the filed, might be lessened.
This principle might world, one light year from Earth, as well as one thousand light years or more away from Earth...Colony, self sufficient, however communicative.
