Problem 1:
A rectangle double bottom tank is 20 metres long, 10.5 metres wide and 1.5 metres deep, and is full of sea water having a density of 1025 kg/m³. Calculate the pressure in Bars and the load in Tonnes on the top and bottom of the tank if the water is:
(i) At the top of the tank. (ii) 10m up a sounding pipe.
Problem 2:
A ballast tank 15.25m long, 10.5m wide and 1.5m deep and the tank is filled with fresh water. Calculate the head of water if the load on the short side is 197 Tonnes.
Problem 3:
A vertical bulkhead 9 metres wide and 8.5 metres deep has Diesel Oil, specific density 850 kg/m³, on one side only to a depth of 6.5 metres. Calculate the pressure in kg/cm² at the bottom of the bulkhead and the load on the bulkhead.
