Molecular nanotechnology can solve probably ninty nine percent of our physical problems. It could either solve niney nine percent of our problems or enslave us in a psychological nightmare. CRN thinks we should be all bound up on earth . . . forever. I don't know how they think they're going to solve . . .dealing with the universe . . . dealing with social issues no group feels like changing on their own . . . all bound up with one another; but, this reminds me of something.
It reminds me of the debate over whether we should go out to space full speed ahead; or, we should stay here on earth and solve 'all' our problems here on earth first . . .then go out to space. I'd like to think that the majority of people who have grown up a bit don't need explanation that the idea that we are going to solve all our petty problems once and for all . . . much less here on Earth first, and then go out to space is a bit . . . rediculous . . .naive . . .maybe self-serving to whoever thinks they've got all the answers.
Molecluar nanotechnologies will allow almost free access to space; for ages now, those who wanted to move on found plenty of space to move away from those others for whatever reasons. Wars raged for all kinds of reasons; the word rebellion should say all you need to know about one reason; other words would be tyrant . . .dictator; all these words have to do with people bound up with one another; forced to be with one another. Molecular nanotechnology will solve those problems as well as the food and resources reasons for war and killing for no real reason(for the most part).
Another major reason for allowing humanity to go out to space is that it frees the mind; it will prevent social thought control from stopping the natural inquisitiveness of our species at an early age; it will inspire the scientific ethic needed for our survival as a species . . .and force upon those living in outer space to practice science which is required for our survival; we are the technologically dependent species; i've already shown that the scientific ethic is the most peacefull ethic; solving problems by reason . . . not war is the scientific ethic which CRN doesn't seem to understand. CRN also doesn't seem to understand that mathematical science is excercise just like physical exercise; you don't practice it; you loose it; as I've noted in the "Ad Astra" quote, the romans never produced one mathematician! Those cultures that are ready to move on should be allowed to move on or suffer the fate of the ancient Greeks surrounded by those who get all shaken up by thought and free spiritedness; it's like they are scared of being revealed as fear mongers. Of course, if CRN gets there way, we will suffer the same fate as the Romans. Already you can see it in their incrowding language of 'disruptive technology.' I post at their blog that maybe we should consider 'Totalitarian technology', and it goes well above their heads nd hearts. These people are immature and incrowders just as Thomas Kuhn says in his 'Scientific Revolutions' book about the incrowding that he found throughout the history of mathematical science; one of the really main reasons many people find it hard to grasp a new idea is because it doesn't fit their social dogma! Few people break the social bounds allowing them to see the light! The idea of 'disruptive technology' reminds me of all those gangsters and thugs that go around saying if you criticize america . . . your a traitor; this type of thought leads to Nazieisms and the decline of the Roman republic . . . and possibly with a powerfull technology like molecular nanotechnology . . .the end of humanity.
