I do not know the intention of physorg.com, but, this news is posted on 15 Nov. 2004. on university of cambridge (http://www.eng.cam.ac.uk/news/stories/pocket_projectors/)
It said the 2d-holographic display using LCOS is under development. And funny thing is that cnet.com posted that major chip & TV maker dropped LCOS technology.
can they be related? what do you think?

I think it's ok, i never visit university of cambridge website. biggrin.gif How else would i know about this nice technology?

Just another LCD projector variant.

Nothing revolutionary here.

I think this would be a really nice product if it comes to market in a reasonable time...

Hmm... I wonder what this holographic diffraction technique could mean for maskless semiconductor IC fabrication? Coarser features initially, of course, as LCDs are currently restricted to visible light wavelengths... however, for some applications, that need not be a barrier; LED/LET display panel technology based on the new transparent oxide semiconductor materials (http://www.physorg.com/news2521.html), for instance...

the revolution comes from the miniturisation and the lack of lens, at the present the size of projectors are restricted by the focal length of the lens and the size of the imaging device and the need to produce a light engine of sufficent power with constant properties, ie white light. the fact that there is no lens a powerful light engine etc. makes it revolutionary. you muppet

Very intriguing – and coincidental! I have just started putting together a business model for this very technology. My goal is to have a prototype within two years, of a portable (PDA-size) holographic device capable of generating a 7-inch 3D image. Stay tuned…

Excellent! Hope we see this soon. This is no variant of any existing technology, don't make ignorant remarks

I am developing my own 2D projector based on a video game I saw at a rest stop which I have been unable to locate. The premise was very simple though and I think it could be applied to all video media. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen in my life, and I have been dedicated to finding the game and taking it apart to replicate it for commercial use. It was based on a domed glass vs projection or lasers though. I wish there was others or colleges that understood it.
Any advice would be appreciated, it was a fighting game and was out about 6yrs ago.

Did the dome fit over your head?

I may know what you're speaking of.

I think they should intergrate this with a customizable soultion such as voxtoneonline.com. It would be cool to have this product combined with voxtone's service. They both can make a crap load of cash...

Very nice Santa :) And then i want one of those 'holographic' crystals IBM has been hiding from me. And then we just need something to firestart the crystal and the virtual computer (software boolean logic grinds) will start to chew ;) Love it.
